Schools often have no cohesive policy for CCTV installations. This often results in them installing a variety of systems, offering varying levels of service, quality and, most important, value. Staff may not be experts in security and sometimes find that they have spent a great deal of money on something that ends up being the wrong tool for the job. It is for this reason that we are often asked to visit schools, which are considering CCTV installation. A modern school security system, incorporates cameras, digital video recorders and intelligent video management software.
Security does not begin and end with the equipment installed. The system will be only as good as the monitoring and recovery operations applied to it.
A security system must also be incorporated into a safety education program for staff, students, parents and the community.
Wireless hand-held devices can also added to the security system to allow staff or security personnel to be alerted in real time, through streamed video images, to potential security or safety issues. Evidential quality digital video sequences can be exported to CD or DVD.
