Recent CJSSS guidelines - Criminal Justice Simple, speedy, summary –
dictates that evidence should be provided at the earliest possible stagewhere possible.
To assist with these new guidelines, and the problems that can be encountered in a busy custody area, ClearView have developed a Mobile Digital CCTV Viewer - "VuePrint (Mobile)".
A police custody area can often be a hectic and busy environment and manpower is always at a premium. The need to process detainees' movements within the custody area quickly and safely for all concerned is of paramount importance. In an increasing number of cases, this requires CCTV footage to be viewed by the prosecution, defence or court officials.
Taking the evidence to the detainee is a quicker, safer and a better use of staff time allowing them to be more effective and productive.
A "ruggedised" laptop is utilised to reduce the potential risk of damage whilst maintaining familiarity. Connecting the laptop to a printer allows images to be quickly and easily printed.
DC Richard Olley from Gravesend Station reports "the VuePrint system has proved invaluable. We can quickly and easily look at images, print off a still, show it to those concerned with the case, and in many instances reach a satisfactory conclusion. This helps us to be more efficient and productive."
The VuePrint system is available in a variety of formats including standard laptop, ruggedised laptop and desktop, to suit different police operating environments.
