The pictureresque Essex market town of Maldon is a major attraction for visitors, especially in the summer months when thousands visit the quaint high street shops and multi million pound sea front promenade.
Maldon is renowned for having one of the most easily accessible CCTV systems of it’s kind in the country. Based upon highly effective consultancy work carried out for Maldon District Council, ClearView Communications were called in to address the problem of managing the town centre and the promenade using CCTV.
The CCTV scheme is a partnership between Maldon District Council, Maldon Town Council, Essex Police and the local Crime and Disorder Partnership. The aim of the scheme was to address the issue of public safety, jointly with the management of crime such as vandalism and antisocial behaviour.
The system comprises digital recorders, high performance pan, tilt and zoom cameras plus “fixed” cameras that have Infra red lighting to enhance images during non daylight hours. Live or recorded images can be viewed from allotted PCs at the main council offices via a wide area network. This has provided enormous benefits to the Council and local Police.
To ensure the pan and tilt domes were in keeping with the aesthetic environment of Maldon Town, ClearView custom made brackets so they would blend in with the surroundings.
